Life span: African clawed frogs usually live 10 to 15 years in captivity but have been known to live up to 30 years.
General appearance: This frog is wedge shaped, with the head being smaller than the rest of the body. The eyes are positioned on the top of the head and lack eyelids. This aquatic frog’s color ranges from grayish to brownish with marbled and darker shades with a creamy white underside. Albino morphs are becoming more popular and are commonly found.

Life span: Ball pythons are one of the longest-lived snakes. It is not unusual for these pythons to live 20 – 30 years in captivity. One specimen lived for 47 years at thePhiladelphia Zoo.
General appearance: Ball pythons are named for their defense behavior of rolling into a tight ball with their head in the middle. Like all other pythons, ball pythons have spurs at their vents. There are many different color morphs and patterns available today in captive bred specimens. The “standard” ball python has large chocolate brown markings with lighter medium-brown spots interspersed between the darker spots. The belly is generally off-white or a pale gray.

General Appearance: Medium sized lizard with a large triangular shaped bead, flattened body and a tail measuring half the length of the animal. Gray, brown or reddish brown color with small spiny scales covering the body with longer scales from the back of the head. When threatened a bearded dragon will puff out its throat resembling a spiky beard. There are many different designer phases available that can produce different coloration.

General appearance: This arboreal gecko has a beaded appearance and is varying shades of brown in color. There are five darker stripes across the back with white spots.

With curious personalities and soft plush fur, chinchillas make appealing pets for all ages. They sleep most of the day and become active in the evening. Chinchillas are natural acrobats and some find it hard to sit still, others love to be held and petted. It's best to keep two same-sex chinchillas as companions, as they are very social. With good care chinchillas can live over 10 years.

Native to: Collared lizards can be found from southern California north to Nevada, Utah and parts of Idaho, east to Kansas, southern Missouri and Arkansas, and south to Mexico.
Size: Collared lizards generally range in size from 10 to 13 inches long though some individuals can reach up to 15 inches.
General appearance: Male Collared lizards tend to be larger, more robust, and more colorful than female Collared lizards. Collareds can be brown, blue, green, or yellow, backed with white dots. Females are usually tan or gray in color, but will often have orange spots or bars from the neck to the hind limbs when gravid. In most species the males and females both have two black stripes around the neck which is what gives collared lizards their name. The Eastern Collared lizard (C. collaris) is the onemost commonly found in captivity.

Native to: Cuba and surrounding islands; established in southern Florida
Size: Males 1-3 inches Females up to 5 inches
Life span: 5 years
General appearance: Colors range from gray to tan to brownish-green. Many have marbled patterns or darker blotching and may have striping on the legs. Skin is textured, or “warty”. Eyes are large and have sticky “cups” on their toes. Males may have darker throats.

 Ferrets have playful and inquisitive personalities that make them entertaining companions. They are highly intelligent and need considerable amounts of training and attention to prevent them getting into mischief. A ferret can live singly, provided it receives ample attention, or with others and given appropriate care can live from 6-10 years.
